How to make Juliet’s pudding cake

Juliet’s pudding cake is a combo of a box cake recipe and old school baking. It is moist, comforting, and delicious. Not too sweet and not too salty. And most of its ingredients are plant-based.

For the Cake

  • One box yellow cake mix, (Any brand will suffice)
  • One cup sour cream or one cup applesauce
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • Three eggs
  • Two tsp vanilla extract
  • One cup packed brown sugar
  • Two tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp grated nutmeg

For the Frosting

One jar chocolate fudge frosting


For the Cake

  • Whisk cake mix, oil, eggs, sour cream, or (applesauce) and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Next, add brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until incorporated.
  • Prepare a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • Pour the batter in the pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. (Every oven is different, so baking could take longer).
  • Allow cake to cool completely before applying the frosting. Allow frosting to set before you dig in.
