Apple Cinnamon Bars With Cream Cheese Topping


  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter or margarine softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • Two eggs
  • One tablespoon of cinnamon powder
  • One teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • One cup finely chopped peeled apple 

Frosting ingredients

  • 4 oz. cream cheese softened
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine softened
  • One tablespoon milk
  • One teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar


Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13×9-inch pan with cooking spray.

Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer set to medium speed until light and fluffy. Add peanut the butter, eggs, and vanilla; beat until well blended.

Set your mixer to low speed-beat in flour, baking soda, cinnamon powder, and salt until well blended. Stir in apple. Then spread batter in pan.

Bake batter for 28 to 32 minutes or until edges begin to pull away from sides of pan and top is evenly browned. Cool in pan on a cooling rack for at least 30 minutes. Then apply the frosting which is optional.

How To Prepare The Frosting

Beat cream cheese, butter, milk and vanilla with an electric mixer on low speed until smooth. Beat in the powdered sugar slowly at low speed until fluffy. Spread over the top of the cake. Wait until frosting is set before cutting cake into squares or triangles.
